What is the purpose of the Setup Statement?

Done at the beginning of each round of tapping, the Setup Statement is where you set up the tapping “target.” It can be viewed simply as a statement that prepares the client for the tapping by identifying the tapping target and pairing it with a balancing statement of self-acceptance.

What is the boxing up technique?

This is a remarkably quick and effective way to restore a client to a regulated state when it is done properly. The most common use for this is at the end of a session when the client is still experiencing some intensity and there is not enough time to tap on what they are feeling. You can also use Boxing Up at any time during the session when you need to restore regulation, for example if unexpected triggering happened while working on something specific and you want to step back and use a Gentle Technique.

What are tailenders?

Tailenders is a key technique for working with a client to uncover their unconscious blocks in the way of making progress towards their goals.

This technique targets the subtle, lingering beliefs or thoughts (‘Tailenders’) often after a client has worked through the main issue. Identifying tailenders are often critical to clearing any remaining resistance, doubts, or limiting beliefs. Goals/intentions are the difference that you want at some time in the future. In EFT, tapping is done on the tailenders that may sabotage the goal coming true.

Additional techniques to test your tapping?

It is important to test the effect of your tapping as you go. Testing often and appropriately is one of the hallmarks of a practitioner that is skilled and thorough, but it also shows respect for the client’s time. Only by testing can you avoid unnecessary rounds of tapping or pointlessly pursuing less important aspects. The measure most often used is the SUD, however Actual Situation (aka ‘In Vivo’ testing), Vivid Imagination, and Pointed Questions can also be used.
